What’s happening?

Chicago at night

The Wrigley Building, down town Chicago

Nicola and I are back from an excellent trip to Chicago, where we had a damn good time looking around not only the biggest convention I’ve ever seen (20,000 dentists – yeurk! most peoples nightmare!!) but also a good look around the central Chicago area. What a nice city, the Millennium Park area is fantastic, and the open air auditoium is where Pres. Obama made his acceptance speech (oh boy, are they proud of their new favourite son).

Downtown Chicago is a great place for a visit, but don’t go in February, it’s freezing!! I suppose the title of “Midwinter Meeting” should have been a clue.

We really did some serious stuff too, it wasn’t all playtime, mind you, a couple of Margaritas and a plate of Calamari with chilli dip isn’t a bad way to finish an afternoon of lectures! The lectures were of very high quality and worth the travel, with speakers of world repute, so we learned a lot which will hopefully be of benefit to all our patients.

We’re definitely going back next year, although I’m trying to wangle a trip to the New York meeting in November this year, if only to get me out of a family wedding I really don’t want to attend!!!

As to more important matters, sailing!! Yes it’s that time of year again, and a couple of trips are already in the diary. Myself and my scurvy crew mate Pete the mad medic, are off for a little jaunt up the West Coast at the end of May for a long weekend. Then in July, it’s the turn of the Greek Islands to be invaded by the Dentith crew along with a family we met on our last flotilla trip to Croatia last summer.
